SAFE JOURNEY: Dr. Walter Boynton an Environmental Hero!

With great sadness, we must share that Dr. Walter Boyton has passed away. Literally a giant among Patuxent advocates; a close friend and ally of Senator Bernie Fowler, a founding member of the Patuxent Riverkeeper Board of Directors, and a fellow who spent a lifetime serving his community in various ways. Walter was fundamental to the original Patuxent activist movement that eventually morphed into a Chesapeake Bay saving cause. Irrefutably he was fundamental in the cause. A transplant from New England, he loved his fellow Marylanders and was a real humanitarian as well as a skillful/knowledgeable scientist and conservationist who mentored many. I have a very sweet recent memory of seeing Walter with his family including his new grandbaby at the June 2026 Patuxent Wade-in. A Proud Grandpa indeed. It will take time for me to process this. A great tree has fallen in our midst.
