APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED NOW, FOR OUR FREE–PATUXENT DAY CAMP FOR YOUTH… SPACE IS LIMITED, SO APPLY NOW–OR NOMINATE A YOUNG PERSON!
Patuxent Riverkeeper is offering a really exciting “Free” summer program designed for summer youth. We will host three intensive outdoor classes running for a week at a time in June, July and August. Enrollment per class is limited to 10 students (ages 10-16 years). The financial backer for this project hopes that it will provide camp opportunities to young people in the Brandywine region who often lack such opportunities —but interested students from all walks and locales are encouraged to apply. If we run out of space, we will create a waitlist. Priority will be given to applicants from Brandywine and Greater Upper Marlboro. Each day, young people will have a different set of mentors and try a new outdoor experience. Lots of take-home free gifts included. Youngsters are expected to bring their own lunch; we will provide plenty of snacks and refreshments. In 2025 we are asking for a voluntary donation of $150 per youngster. The fee is easily waived on request.

- Learn how to fish on the Patuxent & Chesapeake Bay from a veteran angler
- Learn plant recognition from a native-american medicine practitioner
- Learn woodland survival techniques from experienced hikers and outdoor explorers
